One Last Hurrah

After 7 years of playing the stages of Southeast Wisconsin, we've decided this will be our final performance. It's been an amazing ride with many highs over the years. We hope you'll come out to Smokin' Joe's (6139 W Beloit Rd, West Allis, WI) on March 5th, 2011 to celebrate with us. We'll have some laughs, maybe shed a tear or two, and we are gonna rock Smokin' Joe's like a hurricane!

Damn! It's been a long time since our last blog posting. My fault on that one.

So what's new? All sorts of stuff!

We played 3 shows with 76 Juliet in November and December. That was a blast, jamming with our friends in 76 and meeting lots of new people "on the road".

We got back to playing in March at Papa's Social Club...everyone in the band was sicker than hell that night. Unfortunately, this was not a result of over-indulging...rather it was head-cold season, and we each had our own variation...what a mess that show was!

But we were all better by the time we played at Paulie's Pub & Eatery in April!

We've added a bunch of new songs to the setlist since Halloween--which was our last post. Here's a list of those new tunes....

All of us in Noise Pollution would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who came out to see our return performance at Papa's Social Club over the weekend. We enjoyed seeing you all! Extra thank yous go to Matt and Tommy who handled sound and lights for the night--we rocked so hard that we shorted out the PA...but Matt and Tommy got things up and running in short-order. Congrats to the Pirate, The Green Men, and The White Rabbit for winning the costume contest. And thank you to Dickie and the staff at Papa's for taking care of the band and all those in attendance.

We're lining up more shows and we'll keep you posted as they are scheduled.

I can't even begin to tell you how good it felt to get back on stage and rock out with all our friends both new and old...it had been just shy of 10 months since the last time Noise Pollution played a show. Well another Wisconsin State Fair has come and gone. So many great Milwaukee-area bands to see. I caught a few of them including 76 Juliet and Mount Olive, Chasin Mason, The Acoustix, Pink Flamingoes, Rockerfellers and more!

Don't forget, Noise Pollution's official return is right around the corner...Saturday, August 29th at Papa's Social Club 7718 W Burleigh in Milwaukee. It's the annual Papa Palooza concert to benefit the Penfield Children's Center. The doors open at 7pm with music starting at 8:30 from Roxie Beane. Noise Pollution follows, then New Dog Trick, and the evening closes with 76 Juliet.

First Shows Booked!

Yes, it's true. We've booked our first two shows with the new lineup. First up is Papa-Palooza, Saturday August 29th at Papa's Social Club in Milwaukee. The lineup for the benefit event includes Roxie Beane, New Dog Trick, 76 Juliet, and Noise Pollution. We'll have more details as the date draws nearer.

And we'll be bringing the action back to Papa's Social Club for the annual Noise Pollution Halloween Bash, Saturday October 31st.It's been a long time coming, and we can't wait to rock Papa's!

When we started looking for new bandmates we never dreamed we'd build a lineup this great. Let us briefly introduce you...

Erik Busse: Guitarist. Erik and Paul played together in a band while in college at UW-Whitewater. They hadn't heard from one another in nearly a decade, then Erik responded to Noise Pollution's ad on Craigslist, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Chris Finch: Guitarist and founding member of Noise Pollution. You all know Chris as the "Angus Young" of Noise Pollution. Chris and Paul have been in bands together since 1994.

Ed Lowthian: Drummer. Ed's played in different Milwaukee area bands, most notably 76 Juliet. Ed's the first guy we called when we started the hunt for a new drummer and fortunately for us, he said yes!

Tim Peterson: Bassist. Tim was the first bassist in Noise Pollution before we even had a name...but he split before we completed the lineup! Most recently Tim was a member of Altered State, but now he's returned to Noise Pollution and is laying down the low-end groove, ready to rock your pants off.

Paul Ziino: Lead vocalist and founding member of Noise Pollution. You know Paul as the "Ozzy" of Noise Pollution.

We can't wait to get the show on the road--as soon as we have dates booked, we'll let you know! We'll be updating the website soon!

Still Looking

Well, we've met with several, but still haven't found the right person to fill our opening for a 2nd guitarist. Here's the scoop...

Our ideal candidate loves 80s hairmetal--as well as some of the hard rock of the 90s and 2000s. He should have gig-worthy gear (guitars and amps), reliable transportation, a day job, availability to practice weekly at our rehearsal spot in Menomonee Falls and gig 18-20 times a year. Ability to share leads with Chris is a bonus, backup vocal abilities are a huge plus, and addiction-free is a must.

About Noise Pollution...

Current members range from 35-43 years of age. Some of us are married, some have kids, all have reliable daytime jobs. Noise Pollution's original lineup played for four and a half years at venues around southeast Wisconsin including Bobby Rockets, Fatboy Roadhouse, Kelly's Bleachers II, Foxy's, Fish Day in Port Washington, Taste of Summer, The Waukesha County Fair , and Summerfest. We've dropped the costumes (so no, you don't have to dress up like Slash), we've added some songs from the last 20 years (artists include STP, Green Day, Buckcherry, Nickelback, and more), and we're looking ahead to the next phase of the band.

Guitarist Auditions

Well, we've got our new bassist. We've got our new drummer. And now we begin auditioning guitarists. Chris has long been the "lead" guitarist in Noise Pollution, and he continues in that role. Now we need to find someone to share the guitar spotlight with Chris. We have some very talented musicians scheduled to come by. Hopefully we've found our 5th member! We'll find out in the coming days!

You may have noticed that we have some question marks in the band lineup. Just want to let you know that Noise Pollution is soldiering on and we're busily putting together a fresh new lineup for 2009. We're meeting with some pretty amazing musicians and things are looking good. Once we have the new lineup locked in, we'll be storming the stages of southeast Wisconsin once again.

We do have to send out a huge thank you to our friends Jim, Nick, and Vic. Without these guys, Noise Pollution would not have achieved the things we've accomplished over the last 4 and a half years. Their friendship and musicianship will always be treasured and remembered fondly.

The newest news

What a great time! We had a blast at Papa's Social Club last weekend. It was great to see all our friends and fans after taking the extended summer vacation. And it was equally great to be back onstage!

As noted in our last post, times are changing. Noise Pollution's decided to make a few adjustments to the show and we're definitely excited about the next phase of this band.

First off, we're re-working our setlist. In addition to playing all the songs you've come to expect...Panama, Kickstart My Heart, Down Boys, Talk Dirty to Me, Dirty Deeds, and so on...we're adding music from the last 20 years. Bands like Nickelback, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Jet, Buckcherry, and more.

With this diversification in our setlist, it also brings the end to Noise Pollution performing in costume. We still promise to bring a great show with us everywhere we go and that you'll have a blast at every show, too. Instead of being "the ultimate tribute to the hard rock and metal of the 80s", Noise Pollution will now be more of a "hard rock experience".

Our final show in costume will be at Bobby Rockets on Friday, October 31st--our annual Halloween Blowout! We'll give you a sneak preview of some of the new material we're working on and of course play lots of your favorite songs that you've come to expect at a Noise Pollution show.

After the Halloween show, we'll be taking a couple months off to continue working on the expanded setlist and to celebrate the holidays with our families. But you'd better be ready for Noise Pollution when we come back in 2009, ready to Rock You Like a Hurricane more than ever!

Times they are a-changing

These past 5 months have brought about some new ideas within the Noise Pollution camp. We've learned a couple new songs which we'll be debuting this coming weekend at Papa's Social Club--hope to see you there! And we've decided to try a slightly new direction with the band.

We'll be taking another break after our show on Friday, October 31st at Bobby Rockets. This break will be much shorter than our summer vacation--only 2-3 months ideally. We'll be re-working the Noise Pollution setlist by adding in some new material. We'll no longer be the "Ultimate Tribute to the Hard Rock and Metal of the 80s". Instead, Noise Pollution will be more of a "Hard Rock Experience".

What's this mean? For one, our final show "in costume" will be on Halloween. We may occasionally pull the costumes out of our closets for special occasions and of course for Halloween. But in general, we'll be performing "unmasked".

This also means a more diverse songlist. Yes, we'll still be playing Van Halen and Motley Crue and AC/DC and Poison and Ratt. But we'll be playing songs from the past 20 years as well. Songs by bands including Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Nickelback, and Buckcherry to name a few.

We had an AWESOME time on Saturday night! Lots of people in attendance for the annual St Patty's Party at Bobby Rockets. There were people dancing in front of the stage, we had people dancing next to the stage, we had people dancing at the bar, even had one person puke all over the bar, but we don't need to go there, do we?!?!?!

Jeff did a great job with sound and lights for the night, and we are very excited about the "Music with Pete TV" video shoot from Saturday night, too. We'll be getting the unedited DVD from Pete in the coming days. Once the video's been edited, we'll let everyone know when to tune in to their local cable channel to watch the show!

Up next, Noise Pollution is back in Milwaukee at Papa's Social Club, 7718 W. Burleigh (http://www.papassocialclub.com/) on Saturday, March 29th. Showtime is 9:30pm. Fatboy Roadhouse

Ya know, we return to the Fatboy Roadhouse every first quarter, and every time we do, we're reminded of how much fun we have at this cool little club. What a party! Tons of people dancing on the tables, shakin' their money-makers, and having a great time! We had such a blast--and the new managers Jodi and Joel were super cool to work with.

Thanks to everyone who spent the night on Feb 23rd with us. We look forward to seeing you at Bobby Rockets on March 15th!

Bubs is good!

We had a great time last Friday night at Bubs in Germantown. For me, it was a mini high-school reunion, having grown up in Germantown and having graduated from G-Town high school. Even had a few of my old high school chums come out to the show--haven't seen some of those folks in nearly 18 years!

Up next, we're on our way to the Fatboy Roadhouse in Milwaukee. We've played there many times before, always in front of a very enthusiastic crowd, and we're hoping this time will be no different.

And of course, St. Patty's is about a month away. We make our annual St Patty's show at Bobby Rockets once again. This year, though, we've got something different in store. This year, the St. Patty's gig is being recorded by "Music with Pete TV" which is broadcast on the cable systems in Racine and Kenosha counties, as well as a few systems in Northern IL. We expect the show will be aired in May or June. Cmon out to Bobby Rockets on 3/15/08 to not only rock with us in person, but to also be a part of our episode of "Music with Pete TV"!

Bring the Noise

Good lord it's been a long time since we last played a show! October 27th we were at Bobby Rockets...again, a great time. We didn't book anything for November and were snowed out for December 1st. So this Saturday, January 12th, is our first gig in two and a half months.

On the bright side, we don't plan on any long hiatuses in the foreseeable future. We've got Jan 12 and Mar 15 at Bobby Rockets, Feb 8 at Bubs in Germantown (with our friends Category X), and Feb 23 at Fatboy Roadhouse. So first quarter of 08 is 4 times better than 4th quarter of 07. Hurray!

We hope to see you at the show this weekend...and so far, no snow in Saturday's forecast!

A quiet end to 2007

There we were, all pumped up and ready to play a killer set on Saturday night. We were well-rehearsed, and very excited to open for the METAL MEN, and then the forecasts started predicting rotten weather. We figured these predictions would likely not come true--you can never fully trust the weatherman!

But then Saturday morning came, and it was looking ugly. By early afternoon there was a fair amount of accumulation, and roads were getting slicker by the hour.

By 4pm, the show had been called off. Snow had turned to freezing rain and drizzle and ice. Honestly, we were a little relieved to learn the show was cancelled--but only because we were nervous about making the road trip to KBII and expecting our friends, families, and fans to do the same. Instead we sent out bulletins asking everyone to stay home, stay warm, and stay safe. Fortunately, that's what most people did.

So that means we have a VERY quiet 4th quarter of 2007. Only one show--that was on October 27th for Halloween at Bobby Rockets.

On the bright side, we're looking forward to what's shaping up to be a great first quarter of 2008. Look for us to "bring the noise" to Bobby Rockets on January 12th and March 15th, BuBs Irish Pub in Germantown on February 8th, and to the Fatboy Roadhouse on February 23rd.

Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Lots to be thankful for this year. As a band, we're thankful for all the great venues we've played this year: Bobby Rockets (3 shows), Fatboy Roadhouse (2 shows), The Stage, Foxy's, A Taste of Summer, The Hiawatha, Bindelli's Safari, Kelly's Bleachers II (3 shows by the end of 2007), and Summerfest. Additionally, there have been so many folks who've come out to the shows to see us play, we couldn't possibly list every single person here, but we do want to say THANK YOU!

By the way, our final show of 2007 will be Saturday, December 1st. We're returning to Kelly's Bleachers II in Wind Lake, WI. Noise Pollution hits the stage shortly after 9pm, and we're followed immediately by one of our favorite Milwaukee-area bands, THE METAL MEN! It's going to be a great show, and one you will certainly not want to miss!

Happy Halloween

We had an amazing show at Bobby Rockets for Halloween. We've never seen Bobby Rockets so packed--mind-blowing to be honest.

Lots of great costumes in the crowd--Willy Wonka, Curious George, Rainbow Bright, Jackie Frost, Peter Peter Pumkin Eater, Kissing Booth, teenage punk, race car driver. And Angie, Jason, and Matt from Milwaukee came dressed as Noise Pollution--Ozzy, Tommy Lee, and Slash. Great costumes!

Thanks to all in attendance--especially the school bus full of people from Kenosha--you all rocked!

Shows past and upcoming

Been a long time since my last update. For starters, I have to say that we had a GREAT time at Bobby Rockets on 8/25. Our friends THE DOTS opened up the show for us. It was their first official gig, and I think it went quite well for them. I know we were totally pumped when it was our turn to hit the stage. And when we did, we had the crowd rocking from the very first note, all the way to the end.

September 8th we played at the Stage in Milwaukee. A great club in a not-so-great neighborhood. We played well, but unfortunately there wasn't a whole lotta people there to witness it. Oh well, better luck next time?

We've got a couple weeks off, so we're learning new material to add to the show when we return to Bobby Rockets for the annual Halloween Blowout. This year's is sponsored by Lake 961 radio, and we expect a bigger than usual crowd and more fun than ever...hope to see you at the show!

Susan Pataska Benefit a success!

August 11th we played a benefit show for Susan Pataska who is fighting stage 4 breast cancer. Now most folks would think Noise Pollution isn't exactly a "breast cancer benefit" kinda band, but I'd say we certainly are. For one thing, when you're invited to perform at a benefit, you almost have to accept--unless you're physically unable to do the show. Second, when someone thinks your band is good enough to play their event, you certainly don't want to let them down. And third and foremost, we may be hard rockers trapped in the 80s, but we do have heart...and we have mothers and sisters and aunts and wives. So yes, we are totally a "breast cancer benefit" type of band.

Anyway, the event raised over $12,000 for Susan. Granted, that wasn't because Noise Pollution was on the stage...but I'd have to believe that some of those in attendance were there because we were the night's entertainment.

Nick's Near-Death-Experience

This will teach him a lesson about wishing things into existence...

Wednesday night we were wrapping up rehearsal and Nick told the story of being in a nasty car accident a week before a show in our previous band. Even though he was pretty banged up and had totalled out his car, he still played the show, partially seated atop a bar stool.

Then today, Nick's driving along HWY P in Kenosha County when a big sneeze hits him. As he sneezed, his car was heading into one of the many substantial curves on Hwy P, and he swerved into the ditch along the right side of the road, then over-corrected and spun across the Hwy again into the ditch on the opposite side of the road, but not until he hit an oncoming Geo Storm.

He managed to get out of the car to make sure the people in the other vehicle were OK--they seemed to be alright. So he called his boss to let her know he wasn't coming back into work, and shortly thereafter police and paramedics were on the scene.

Nick's boss called me to let me know what was up, and my wife and I headed to Burlington Memorial Hospital to check in on our friend.

When we arrived, Nick was in a neck brace, on a gurney, awaiting a CAT Scan.

Fortunately, everything came back OK--except his car which is surely a complete loss.

The passengers in that Geo Storm were ok, too--a broken wrist and a sore hip were their only injuries.

As we took Nick to get his prescribed pain killers, we talked about Saturday night's show at Bindelli's Safari--The Susan Pataska Benefit. I told Nick we'd figure out a revised setlist since he'd be staying home. Nick told me, "No Way. I'm not missing this show."

So we may be a bit banged up, but all of Noise Pollution will be in attendance tomorrow night at the Susan Pataska Benefit show. We hope you'll join us!

Finger Cuts

We've been joking about this one for a bit...

And have decided we will no longer permit Chris to use power tools within a month of any scheduled show.

Seems that Saturday Chris was busily trimming the hedges when he decided to cease paying attention and start trimming his fingernails.

6 Stitches in his left index finger, and he's in a bit of discomfort.

Why can't he be like the rest of us and just use the hedge trimmers to cut through those pesky electrical cords?

Oh well, he should be fine for the upcoming Susan Pataska Benefit show at Bindelli's Safari on August 11th.

We had a might-fine time in Port Washington earlier this month. Good to see all the familiar faces who made the drive--Mike and his wife from Belgium, WI (i'm sorry I can't remember her name!), Jason, Angie, and Matt from Milwaukee, and everyone else who came out to party with Noise Pollution. There was something odd about that night at Foxys though. For whatever reason, people didn't seem to want to "rock and roll all night". I suspect many had been "partying [all] day". Or maybe there was that much stuff going on around the Port Washington area that folks were making stops and then moving on to other venues? I dunno. Overall we had a good crowd, it just had a lot of turnover is all.

Up next Noise Pollution is playing a very important show. August 11th we'll be at Bindelli's Safari in Kenosha for the Susan Pataska Benefit. Susan is fighting a battle with breast cancer which has progressed very quickly. As one can imagine, the bills are piling up faster than she can handle them--even with her health insurance. So friends of Susan's have gotten together and organized a great Saturday afternoon benefit complete with food, drinks, raffles, silent auctions, and of course live music with Noise Pollution.

Everyone knows someone who's either fought cancer or had a family member fighting cancer. It's sad, really. And there are lots of great money-raising events for cancer research like the annual "Relay for Life" in communities all over the country. I know locally the Relays are this weekend. If you're not walking in a relay, make sure to make a donation. And if you are a relay participant, that's awesome! I've already committed my donation...have you?

Hopefully, someday, we'll have a real cure for cancer. Until then, we have Relays for Life and the American Cancer Society and other organizations who are making the daily fight against cancer. Noise Pollution is happy to do our little part for this one person who's struggling with the disease right now. Come on out to Bindelli's Safari on August 11th, and let's Rock Cancer!

Summerfest ROCKED!

Hey Hey Hey!

Big thanks to everyone who came out to the Rock Stage at Summerfest on Friday, July 6th! We didn't know what to expect since we were performing at 1pm on a Friday...but we were blown away! In the three years that we've been performing as Noise Pollution, we've never seen so many of our TShirts in a crowd! It was awesome and we truly appreciate all the support!

There were lots of people in the crowd--all ages. Kids, adults, moms and dads, grandparents. It was awesome!

We've all been in bands off and on over the last 20-30 years, and none of us in Noise Pollution has ever been fortunate or lucky enough to have been in a band that was invited to play at Summerfest...until this year!

It was really an honor and a privilege to be able to perform for everyone who came through.

Coolest thing...from the stage we were able to see people walking into the Rock Stage area. Sometimes it'd be just one guy, other times it'd be a a group of people. Didn't matter, cuz every time the reaction was the same...

They walk in with their back to the stage, one guy looks over his shoulder to see who's playing right now, and then he'd take another look and we'd see his face light up! If he was with anyone else, we could read his lips, "check these f***in' guys out!" Then his buddy would look, and someone would whip out a camera phone and start taking pictures! What's great is that once people would catch a glimpse of us, it seemed as though they wouldn't leave! I can only imagine what it must be like, walking around the Summerfest grounds looking at bands all over the place, and then you wander into the Rock Stage area and see a bunch of guys decked out like Angus, Slash, Tommy, Nikki, and Ozzy. I'd probably get out my camera phone too!

We have to thank the Rock Stage crew for taking good care of us and making sure we sounded great. We have to thank our crew for sharing the day with us: Kevin, Darren, Joel, Mary, and Nichole. We have to thank our agent Louie Higgins at ACA Entertainment for getting us this dream-come-true gig. And of course, we have to thank everyone who took the day off of work to come out to Summerfest and Rock with Noise Pollution!

Now if you saw us at Summerfest and had a good time, just imagine how much fun you'll have if you come out this weekend to see us in a full-on club show at Foxy's in Port Washington! It'll blow your mind! Hope to see you Saturday in Port Washington!

Summerfest is up next

A Taste of Summer was a great time. Had some interesting things happen pre-show that caused some tension as we soundchecked and prepared to start our set, but overall, it was a good way to get Summer off with a bang. Being that we are new to the Festival circuit, we take every experience as a learning opportunity and hope and prepare for the next festival to be bigger and run smoother as far as Noise Pollution is concerned.

So ultimately, we're glad to have the stumbles out of the way as we prepare for our Summerfest debut on Friday, July 6th. Once again, we're on the ZIPPO/Miller Lite/WJJO Rock Stage at 1pm that Friday afternoon. We are pumped up for the show, and have some new material we plan to debut at the Big Gig.

Just a reminder for you, the first 1500 people in the main gate entry that day who bring a new children's toy valued at $5 or greater will receive free admission to the Summerfest Grounds. Also, admission on weekdays before 5pm is only $8. So if you get to Summerfest in time to see Noise Pollution, you save $7 off the price of admission--it's $15 after 4pm--and you get to enjoy the entire day with great music on 10 stages around the grounds!

So we had a good time at Fatboy Roadhouse. And now we're in the midst of about 6 weeks off. But that is totally OK. Time for Mother's Day and Memorial Day. Good times to not be doing shows. Additionally, it's a good time for Noise Pollution to add some new material to the show.

We're throwing around a bunch of ideas, each one cooler than the one before. I must admit, I think the new material is going to be GREAT, and certainly will not disappoint our fans and friends. Think big-ass drums and killer guitar solos....that's the only hint you're getting on this first one we're adding! What I can tell you is that Chris is working his ass off, and has impressed me yet again with the material he's taking on.

I've known Chris for 16 years now, and he's become a very good guitarist--even in the last 3 years since Noise Pollution first rehearsed with what was to become our lineup, his playing has improved immensely.

Boy, I better stop. Don't wanna over-inflate Chris's ego!

Overall, I think you're gonna be stoked to hear the new material we have planned for the coming months. I don't know that we'll have it ready in time for our June 10th performance at A Taste of Summer, but it will be set for our gigs in July and August!

Speaking of which, we've added a few shows to the summer...

Saturday, July 14th...364 days since Noise Pollution's last visit to Port Washington. "It's About Time" we get back there, wouldn't you agree? We're hitting the stage at Foxy's on Franklin St for our (hopefully) triumphant return to one of our favorite venues in one of our favorite cities!

Saturday, August 25th...Bobby Rockets in Lyons, WI. Usually we reserve Bobby Rockets for Halloween and St. Patricks Day shows only...but we're breaking tradition with a killer show with our longtime friends at Bobby Rockets. It'll be a super-excellent time, and you know you won't want to miss it!

Great show with Bad Medicine last weekend at the Hiawatha. Looking forward to another great show tomorrow night as Noise Pollution returns to the Fatboy Roadhouse. Come on out to the show--it's the last club date for us before Summer Festival Season kicks off!

So far, only fest we have is Sunday, June 10th from 1:30-3:30pm at A Taste of Summer in Waukesha. We are still hoping and praying for some more summer festival dates--really praying for Summerfest. Only time will tell!

If nothing pans out, that just means we'll be hitting the clubs this summer.

Tonight's another big show for Noise Pollution. We're headed to Wind Lake, home of Kelly's Bleachers II, for a tag-team event with the world's only Poison tribute band to be fully endorsed by members of Poison...it's POSIN! We're pretty excited about tonight's show. Kelly's has even gone so far as to run ads for the show on Milwaukee's 102.9 THE HOG. It was a trip when friends of the band started calling and emailing saying they heard about the show on THE HOG. Since I know the program director there, I emailed and asked him to send an mp3 of the ad--I'm just outside of their listening area, so I am unable to hear the station on-the-air, and they don't put ads on their webcast. Anyway, the ad sounds pretty cool, and although NOISE POLLUTION is only mentioned once in the ad, it jumps right outta the speakers...big fat and in your face NOISE POLLUTION! Pretty cool.

In other Noise Pollution news, we had a great time at our annual St. Patty's show at Bobby Rockets last Saturday. The crowd was lovin' it...and man, Nick sure had a lot of friends and family show up! Every once in a while that dude impresses me. Some shows we play, it's entirely for people we've never met. Other shows it's in front of only friends and family. But St. Patty's was one of those cool nights where there was a great mix of faces both familiar and new. Good time, good beer, good tunes, and good God, Bobby Rockets was rockin! Maybe we'll make a special appearance there before Halloween??? Only time will tell.

So anyway, I hope you're able to come to the show tonight. Noise Pollution goes on at 10pm!

It's been a LONG time friends, and we've got some big news in the Noise Pollution camp.

OK, not BIG news, but rather we have some BIG SHOWS coming up, and that is definitely newsworthy!

Saturday, March 17th is Noise Pollution's return to Bobby Rockets in Lyons, WI. This is a favorite venue of ours, and this will be our 4th time playing at Bobby Rockets--our second time for St. Patty's Day. We go on at 9pm. Or 9:30pm. Who knows? Who cares? Just get there early, drink some green beer and have plenty o Jamesons, and you won't care what time it is, much less what day it is or what your name is!!!!

Then Friday, March 23rd we take a ride back to Kelly's Bleachers II in Wind Lake. Noise Pollution has been booked to open for the world's ultimate Poison tribute act, POSIN! We've been told we'll be on from 9-10pm. But then again, we might be on from 9:30-10:30, or 10-11, or ????. I guess the only way to know for sure is to get to this show before 9pm! We know we won't be on before 9pm. And if you get there real early, you can witness all the fun and excitement known as "load-in". You too can pick up a snare drum or roll in a speaker cabinet, to help your pals set up for the show! Doesn't that sound like fun?

It's been several weeks since the last time we got on stage, and I tell ya, we are itching to get out there and rock out! We've been busy--no slackers here! We've got some new material we'll be debuting at Bobby Rockets, and some of those tunes are sure to get a repeat performance at Kelly's, too. So c'mon out and join Noise Pollution for some Rock N Roll in March. We promise it'll be "Nothin But a Good Time"!

Great Finale for a Great 2006

It was a blast, and we have to thank all in attendance this past weekend at The Doctors Office. Lots of new faces in the crowd, and plenty of familiar ones as well.

We're taking the rest of the year off, but will be back with a bang in January. It all starts on January 13th as Noise Pollution joins BAD BOY onstage at Kelly's Bleachers II in Wind Lake, WI. Noise Pollution goes on at 9pm, Bad Boy at 10:45.

The following weekend Noise Pollution brings the show back to an old favorite--The Fatboy Roadhouse! Saturday, January 20th, 9:30pm.

Tarbenders was great last night. Good crowd, met lots of new people, and got to visit with some long-time friends of the band. It was great seeing Mel and Scott, Sandi, and the others...and getting to finally meet Mary. Plus we met a number of other people. Good times.

Hope to see some of you new folks when Noise Pollution performs our annual Halloween show on Saturday October 28th. This year we return to Bobby Rockets in Lyons. Bobby Rockets recently installed a new sound and lighting system and I promise we'll do what we can to put it all through its paces! We plan to debut a few new tunes for Halloween, and maybe even a new costume or two?????

Another update to our schedule...we sure are keeping our webmaster busy with all these changes!

Cattails rocks!

We wrapped up the "Summer of Noise" on Saturday night with a big 40th birthday shindig at Cattails in Delavan. Lana turned 40, Daze turned 32, and the Reverend Dan turned 33 (I think). Lotsa birthdays, lotsa friends, and lotsa fun! Met a whole bunch of new folks on Saturday from all over the area, including some new friends from South of the WI/IL border.

Thanks to Faith for taking a bazillion pictures--we hope to have some posted on the site in the coming days. Thanks to Rick and the crew at Cattails for their always-gracious hospitality. And thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us.

Noise Pollution is taking the rest of the summer off for vacations, a little rest and relaxation, and maybe even some time to add a few new tunes to the show...we'll see what happens.

As of now, up next is October 28th--Halloween with Noise Pollution! For the second year in a row, we're rockin Bobby Rockets in Lyons, WI (between Burlington and Lake Geneva on Hwy 36) for the Halloween Extravaganza. Our biggest shows to date

I realize we're a little behind in our posting...but hey, it's summer! Cut me some slack!

Noise Pollution played our two biggest shows to date over the last 2 weekends. Saturday July 15th we played at Port Washington's Fish Day. This was an awesome experience. None of us has ever been on a stage like that before--it was huge! Jim and Chris took turns climbing up on the PA Speakers and walking out on platforms on that side of the stage. It looked and felt like a real rockstar experience. Production company was excellent--I think they were called GO Audio, but I'm not 100% on that. The stage was so big, it was easy to feel disconnected up there. But we took it all in stride, despite 95 degree heat and a 2 hour delay to the beginning of our show. Instead of playing two sets, we just cranked through an hour and a half of our best material nonstop. It was excellent! Thanks to everyone who came out and battled the heat with us!

The following Friday, July 21st, Noise Pollution played our second festival--Waukesha County Fair. Being it was a Friday afternoon/evening slot, we didn't know what to expect as far as a crowd. We hit the stage at 3:15, and as we progressed through the first set more and more folks started strolling in. We played a solid hour, took a 15 minute break, and then went back on stage in front of even more folks, kicking off set two with Kickstart My Heart. By the time we hit Pour Some Sugar on Me, even more were flowing into the Leinie Lodge. It was almost painful when we came to the end of set 2 because we'd built up a fairly sizeable crowd. Nevertheless we took the break, came back at 6pm, and kicked in to Enter Sandman and Symphony of Destruction--two of our heaviest tunes. The headline band for the night, The SweetTarts, had arrived during our break, and I think we impressed a few folks with our Metallica/Megadeth offerings. By the end of the third set, a small group had amassed in front of the stage and they thrashed along as we closed with Bang Your Head/Metal Health. What a rush! Again, sound production was excellent, provided by Eliminator Audio.

These have been two of my favorite experiences in this band, and I have to say thanks to my bandmates for making it possible--Vic, Jim, Nick, and Chris. Shows like these make all the hours and hours of rehearsal and work worthwhile.

Our next show is at a much smaller venue--Cattails in Delavan--on Saturday, August 5th. We love playing Cattails--Rick and Lana are excellent hosts. It's gonna be a good time!

Foxy's ROCKS!

Man did we have a great time on Saturday night at Foxy's in Port Washington. Andy and the crew always take excellent care of Noise Pollution and their patrons. Saturday was no exception. John and Sheila from SOS Sound did a great job--had everything all set up when we arrived at 6:15, so we loaded in, sound checked, and then got to just hang out til show time. Fantastic!

Mike and his wife from Belgium made a return visit--good to see you guys again! Anna and her whole crew stopped by and spent the later half of the night rockin with Noise Pollution--thanks for helping us out with Lick It Up and Never Enough!!! Plus we met a whole bunch of new folks, too.

If Saturday night at Foxy's was any indication, we are going to have a blast when we return on July 15th for Fish Day. We play the main stage from 12:30-3:30 on that date, and are followed by Band X and the Boogie Men.

Then on Friday July 21st we're at Waukesha County Fair on the Leinie's stage from 3-7pm, followed by the Sweet Tarts at 8pm. That same night is Survivor and Eddie Money on the Waukesha County Fair Main Stage. A great night to come to the fair!

Summer of Noise

We've got a great summer filled with shows. Kicking things off is this Saturday night at Foxy's in Port Washington. Noise Pollution hits the stage at 9:30pm.

Then we take a few weeks off before returning to Port Washington for Fish Day on the lakefront, Saturday July 15 at 12:30pm.

Friday July 21st we're playing the Leinie's Lodge at the Waukesha County Fair from 3-7pm.

Saturday August 5th we're going back to Cattails for a big summer blowout!

We're working on some new material to add to our shows this spring and summer...maybe some Ozzy and some GNR. Only seems right, after all, Ozzy's the godfather of metal, and Nick performs as Slash within Noise Pollution. WHo knows what other goodies we may have in store???? You know how to find out? Up next it's May 20th at Headquarters on 107th street, South of Brown Deer Road in Milwaukee. We'll be debuting at least one new song at that show.

After that, it's June 17th at Foxy's in Port Washington.

Big Fun in Port Washington!

It was a great Saturday night in Port Washington. A little on the cool side, but not unreasonable, especially not for April in Wisconsin. But the crowd at Foxy's was hot hot hot! Man we met a lot of new folks at this show, and caught up with some people we hadn't seen in a while, too.

Gotta say thanks to Andy and the gang at Foxy's, Mike and Karen and their friends who drove in from Belgium, WI, Chad and friend from Grafton, and our new sound man John and wife Sheila. A great time was had by all in attendance--especially by all of us in the band.

And Port Washington is going to be our home away from home over the next several months. We're back at Foxy's for a Father's Day weekend show on June 17th, and then July 15th we're at the big Port Fish Day festival.

Port Washington...Get ready for a summer done Noise Pollution-style!

This past weekend, Noise Pollution rolled into Burlington WI for a show at "The Blue Carpet". It was also Nick's birthday, so we made sure to invite his family and friends to the date. This was our lowest attendance at a show in probably 9 months, but we still had a decent turnout, and the folks at the Blue Carpet have invited us back for sometime this summer or fall. We'll have to see what pans out there.

This coming weekend, the band is taking the show on the road with our first visit to Port Washington's Foxy's in over 6 months. We're really looking forward to this show. We're working with a new sound and light company this weekend, and we are anticipating an excellent show. If you're in the northern burbs of Milwaukee, make the trip to Port! Foxy's is right smack downtown in Port Washington.

Sorry for the delay in posting. It's been a crazy week.

To recap, Noise Pollution played Bobby Rockets on march 17th to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. MAN WHAT A CELEBRATION! We rocked til nearly 2am, and the place was HOPPIN! Another amazing turnout at Bobby Rockets for Noise Pollution.

There are so many folks to thank for coming out to the show--too many to list individually, and for fear that I may miss someone! I can definitely thank the Bobby Rockets management and staff for taking good care of the band and the patrons. That's the reason people keep coming back, good club! And it doesn't hurt that a couple times a year Noise Pollution gets to play there!!!

We've got this weekend off, then it's back-to-back shows!
Saturday April 1st is Nick's birthday, and we're celebrating at The Blue Carpet in downtown Burlington. Show starts at 9:30pm.
Saturday April 8th is our triumphant return to Foxy's in Port Washington. This is gonna be a great show. The band is trying out a new production company, and we hope it goes well--we certainly think it's gonna kick ass!

Other future dates to keep in mind:

May 20th, tentative date at a new venue for us--Headquarter's on Milwaukee's Northwest side. We'll be confirming this one in the next week or so.
June 17th, back to Foxy's in Port Washington. Father's day in Port!
July 15th, our first festival booking--Port Washington Fish Day! We'll be on the 94.5 WKTI Main Stage from 1-4pm, so all you underagers can come out and get your dose of 80s rock and metal at our first all-ages festival show!

And we've still got our fingers crossed for a Summerfest date and who knows what else!

Man it was cold on Saturday night. When we were done rocking the house at Cattails, the thermometer read 7 below zero. But I tell ya, we had it rockin inside to the point where Rick (owner of Cattails) had to go around opening windows to let out some of the steam!

People dancing, singing, and drinking. What a beautiful sight! We even had girls rolling around on the floor with each other, and a few guys were rolling around on the floor, too...but I digress.

We saw some new faces on Saturday, some folks we hadn't seen in a LONG time, and some regular faces, too. All in all, a great show on a frigid night.

Thanks to Rick and Lana and the staff at Cattails for allowing us to rock out once again. Thanks to Kevin our roadie and 6th member of the band. This Saturday night, Noise Pollution is back at it, making a return trip to Cattails in Delavan. They did some remodeling at Cattails since we played there over Thanksgiving weekend, opening up the venue, and doubling the dancing area, so we are stoked! Plus our friends from Eldred Photography will be there taking pictures of the band and crowd--you could end up seeing your face on www.noisepollutionrocks.com before you know it!

Due to scheduling conflicts, Noise Pollution has been forced to cancel the March 4th show scheduled for the Blue Carpet in Burlington. We're working toward finding a new date to play there, but it will not be March 4th.

Rockin' the Roadhouse!

We just played a monster show at Fatboy Roadhouse this past weekend. I'll be honest, we never know how many people to expect in the audience. We've played in front of as few as 25 and as many as 300+. This weekend at Fatboy Roadhouse was on the higher end of that spectrum.

We went in expecting maybe 50-75 people and were blown away when 200+ showed up. The place was packed half an hour before showtime! Unbelievable! I can't wait to get back there.

We have to thank all those people that stopped by to see what all the "noise" was about, and to Lisa and Michelle at Fatboy's for having us back, and joining us on stage for a few songs. Good times!

We've got more shows coming up, including a return to Cattails in Delavan on 2/18/06. Hope to see you at the show!

No shows in December. This month it's all about family and friends. We take time to reflect on the past year, acknowledge all those who are no longer here, and we also look forward to what's sure to be a great 2006.

Noise Pollution has SO many people to say thank you to. First off, our wives and kids for putting up with the madness and hectic schedules that go with being in a band. Second, all our friends and families for coming out and showing their support over the last year. Third, all our new friends and fans we've met during 2005. Without you people, NP would just be playing in the basement. Thanks to you, we get out to see, well, Night Light! Special thanks to Ann and Dave for filling in for us in July. Thanks to Kevin and Dan for roadie-ing shows and doing the thankless job of hauling our equipment and helping us set up and tear down. Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!

We had a BLAST last night at Cattails in Delavan WI. We started off with a great crowd for such a small room. And we cranked it up and rocked that place like it's never been rocked before! Even my mom and dad stopped out for the first set. Not too bad. My dad's never seen me play before--he heard me play guitar in my bedroom for 6 or 7 years through middle and high school, and he saw me in the Jazz Ensemble in High School, but never fronting my own band. I think and hope he was impressed. I know he thought the band was good! And I must admit, we were tight last night!

Second set opened to a slightly smaller crowd. Apparently lots of bar hopping goes on, and folks made Cattails stop number one for the night. By the third set, about a dozen folks were there, and we made sure to make them happy they stuck around. We jammed, hard and loud! After "Pour Some Sugar" the bartender came out and yelled at us because it was the first chance she'd had all night to actually pay attention, and she'd missed her favorite song. Not to fear, we played it again, just for her!

Rick and Lana at Cattails are awesome, and hopefully we'll be back in February to rip it up in Delavan once again!

Here we are the end of October... And what a great way to close out a month!

We've got to say a big THANK YOU to our friends at WLKG radio for having NP play their 2nd annual Halloween Bash. Bobby Rockets was a very cool venue, and the folks there were top notch.

Highlights of the evening?

Costume Contest! So many cool costumes! It's too bad they break it down into Sexiest, Funniest, and Scariest, because the best costumes didn't fit into any of those divisions. Faves--The "Stalker" who was dressed up like a stalk of corn. He kept getting his husks caught in the spider webs along the ceiling! Elvis. Dan came as Elvis this year, and I have got to say, he looked MIGHTY AUTHENTIC! Another cool costume was the getaway hostage. Guy had parts of a chair strapped to his arms, back, ass, and legs. Great costume! Plus there were a number of very HOT costumes--border patrol agent, nightmare fairy, naughty girl scout, devil girl, catwoman. Very Nice!

FIGHT! Yeah, some doofus decided to slug Vic "Hulk Hogan" in the side of the head when Vic was walking outta the men's room. Vic didn't take too kindly, so he nailed the guy a few times before the instigator got tossed out. And so did his MOMMY! Rock on with your bad self--and your mama you loser!

You Give Love a Bad Name. This was the highlight for me. We played the Bon Jovi tune in the 2nd set, and we always end it with my vocal shout of "Shot thru the heart!" But this time was different. Everyone in attendance kept right on singing through the end of the chorus. I was overwhelmed, and that was truly the greatest moment of the night for me, and for my entire career as a musician. Thanks to all in attendance. We hope to be back ASAP!

Been a long time since we last posted any news, so here's the latest from the Noise Pollution camp.

Our show on September 10th went great, and we're heading back to Foxy's in Port Washington in April for a repeat.

We're working on adding in some new tunes to the show:

Two posts in under a week?!?! Get out!!!!

Yes it is true, this is the 2nd post to this blog in a week. Why? 'cuz I've got some people to thank!

Noise Pollution played a marathon gig on Saturday, from 5:30pm-2am at the Fatboy Roadhouse in Milwaukee, WI. Thanks to the owners of the venue, Mechelle and Lisa, the bartending crew, the members of the Blue Knights, all our family members and friends, and all the other folks who came out to see the show. We rocked our butts off, and in the end, we were beat--still trying to recuperate from the marathon performance.

Well, it's been like a month and a half since we last posted any news to this blog, so I thought today is as good a day as any.

Man has it been hot! Not just hot, but Kick Yo Ass Hot!

What's that got to do with Noise Pollution? Nothing. Not a damn thing.

On to Noise Pollution business...

Since the last post, we heard from the talent coordinators at Summerfest. Noise Pollution was not one of the chosen ones this year. Hey, at least they took the time to email a form letter. Better than what any of the other fests did for us this year!

We played a show this past weekend at Coach House Grill in Big Bend, WI. It was a great time. Crowd was a little smaller than we hoped for, but the folks that did make the trip to see us definitely had a good time. One crazy bit from Coach House Grill. They're doing lots of remodeling there, making it a great venue for bands and cocktailing, and so forth. Well, in the middle of our 2nd set, water started to drip on the monitor in front of me on stage. I thought it was condensation from the Air Conditioning. Turned out it was a leak in the roof. I moved the monitor out of water's way. Then people were running around like the place was on fire--turned out there was a leak in the production booth, too. Water was dripping, and then pouring, right on the mixing console! Thanks to some quick maneuvering by our soundman Mark, and all was saved.

Next public show is August 13th at Fatboy Roadhouse in Greenfield, WI. Should be fun!

Something Different

Yeah, something different alright. Noise Pollution will be performing our next show in full 80s costume. Vic (drums) will be Peter Criss from Kiss. Jim (bass) will be Dee Dee Ramone from the Ramones. Chris (lead guitar) will be Angus Young from AC/DC. Nick (guitar) will be Slash from Guns N Roses. And Paul (vocals, that's me!) will be Brian Johnson from AC/DC.

3 of the guys did these costumes at our Halloween party in 2004 and it was a smash. So the others of us are putting on our costumes and we'll be ready to rock out with our cocks out, or so the saying goes.

Man, it's been a long time since I last posted an update. Things are busy in the Noise Pollution camp. Let's recap April for you...

Show on 4/23 at JT's in Pell Lake went over very well. Lots of folks came out to support, and we had em rockin til 1:45am. Good times were had by all in attendance. For some reason though, it seems fights break out at our shows. Not sure why, and it's never amongst people we know. Seems to be the bar's regulars. This last show, 5 guys whooped some dude in the parking lot. 20 minutes later, the guy crawled back into the bar for another beer. What a trooper!

We were supposed to have a show booked on 5/14, but it got cancelled due to a cost issue. So now we're on hiatus until we play on June 25th at the Coach House Grill in Big Bend. That's the place formerly known as Ruckers/KP Classics/Lucy & Ethels. We played there in February, and we'll be back on 6/25.

I got yet another mix of the NP demo in the mail yesterday. THis is by far the best mix we've heard. Can't wait to play it for the band on Thursday night.

It's been a long time since I last updated y'all on the goings-on within Noise Pollution. That's not always a bad thing! Like this time, no news is good news, ya know?

We've been prepping ourselves for the show this weekend at JT's in Pell Lake. I think we'll be ready to rock that place! I'm just hoping my voice is with me. I managed to come down with a cold last weekend that is just taking ahold of my entire head and causing all sorts of problems. Can't breathe, sore throat, runny eyes. All that fun stuff. Oh well, I think Saturday night will be a good reason for me to kick this virus thing and be ready to rock!

I got the final version of the demo over the weekend, and will be giving the boys each their own copy tonight. Next it's time for duplication. Never ends!

Coach's

Well, we played Coach's last night, and it was a great time. Unfortunately, the turnout was less than we hoped for, but we still had fun, and the venue has invited us back for future dates--always encouraging.

Some of the tunes were a little sloppy, but that's what happens when a show is cancelled and then rescheduled within a week. Focus was missing, and thus we were not at the top of our game. But overall, we did well, Jim was lively, Chris and Nick were having fun. Vic was feeling a little under the weather, damn stomach bugs! That's what you get for eating rich and thick creamy homemade mashed potatoes with hot pockets! As far as me, I was missing my voice by the end of the night. We'll see what comes next.

NO Show

Well, we tried, but it appears that Noise Pollution will be taking the month of March off from gigging. On the bright side, we have April/May/June all booked!

When I confronted the owner of the venue who cancelled us for 3/19 without notifying us, she told me to, "stick it up my ass." Very professional on her part. I can't wait to work with her in the future. (Sense the sarcasm in that statement? I hope so.)

Cancelled!

We got some lousy news today, by accident. Our show for 3/19 has been cancelled. Seems the bar owner double booked the night, and even though we were booked there back in November, she decided that her brother's band (so we've heard) gets to play on 3/19 instead.

Seems Chris just stumbled onto this other band's website today, saw they were playing, and called me. I called the venue who told me that there was a big X through our name, and this other band was listed instead. No explanation!

Oh well. Such is life in a local band.

On a brighter note, I did book us for April 23rd at JT's Bar in Pell Lake, WI. More details on that are coming soon!

I got the final batch of mixes for the demo this past weekend. Sounds pretty damn good. Looking forward to my bandmates getting a chance to give a listen. Also, we've officially applied to play at Summerfest. We'll see if anything comes of it.

What a show!

I don't think any of us expected the crowd we had on Saturday night at Ruckers. It was outstanding! We had friends and family from all over come to the show, and they brought friends and family...what a great time!

Mark from Road Warrior Productions did a great job with the sound and lights...it's great when stuff goes so smoothly at a show, it comes off as seamless. The folks at Ruckers were good to us, too!

All in all, the band played well. Poor Nick had a cold, again. That's 2 shows in a row! But damn, he pulled off the vocals in spite of it all, and 18 & Life, as usual, got the crowd cheering. Too bad the guitar crapped out in the middle of your solo on Enter Sandman! Jim was in true rock star mode, leather pants, abundant poses, and all. Vic, you are THE kung-fu fighter man! How cool of Dean from the Metal Men to pay Chris a compliment on the solo to Wait. Way to nail it man! And for me, well...I spent many an evening watching Problem Child and High Treason back in the day...to have those guys (now the Metal Men) in the crowd and paying compliments to Noise Pollution was definitely a highlight.

Thanks to our spouses who made it to the show, our friends from Harley-Davidson, the Metal Men (www.metal-men.com) , and 76 Juliet (www.76juliet.com). The list of people that came out could go on and on and on...but I think I'll leave it at this. Thanks to all who came to the show, despite snow advisories and all! Next time we're in the area, hopefully it'll be under better weather circumstances.

The next show is slated for Saturday March 19th at Hitch N Post Saloon in Burlington, WI...just north of Hwy 36 on County Road W. Hope to see you all there!

More Demo work

Well, we've had the demo for a week now, and we've decided to make a few adjustments. We're going to have a few songs remixed. Not a big deal. But I'm going back "in the studio" to re-do one of my lead vocals. One song just didn't cut the mustard, so I'm gonna re-do my parts. That should make a world of difference as everyone else's performances on the song sound great. So the recutting is happening on Monday.

Saturday night is the big show, and we are psyched! Everything is confirmed with the agent and venue, the show is set to go on at 9pm. Hope to see you there!

Hey, I got the first complete draft of our demo, and I must say I am very pleased. As a matter of fact, I'm almost tickled!!! Yeah, I know, kinda minty, but it sounds really quite good. Brian did a helluva job with the production. Everything is completely audible and it just sounds great. The rest of the band will hear it tonight. I'll let you know how that goes!

We heard from our producer yesterday that he is diligently working on the mixdown of our demo. Hopefully we'll have the complete first draft back from him by the end of the week. We've played it for everyone in the band except Jim our bassist. He'll hear what we have so far on Thursday night at practice. We'll have more up there when we get the final mix done.

We've played it for a few others, too. Everyone says the cymbals need to be a bit louder and so do the vocals. Also seems the low end needs to be tightened up, but then again, all we have is a quickie rough mix of two songs. When we get the rest, I'm sure it'll be much improved. I can't wait!

Noise Pollution picture update: the first round of pictures have come back and we have an official new promo pic which will be added in with our promo kits from here on out. Look out talent coordinators and booking agents. When you get the picture of 5 ugly dudes claiming to be a rock band simply because they own instruments and occasionally get together, you're in for a real...I dunno what. Treat isn't the word. Surprise isn't quite the right word. Experience? You're in for a real experience? Yeah, I think that sums up a Noise Pollution show. It's truly an experience.

State Fair

Well, after a couple attempts, we've got the first 2 songs of the demo mixed and produced and en route to the decision makers at State Fair. So now our fate is in their hands. Up next is prepping the CD cards so we can send the whole thing off to be printed up. And then it's getting the project in the hands of the proper people so maybe we can do some bigger shows this year...that'd be nice. Pictures tomorrow night after band practice. Looking forward to it.

Demo Finished!

We finished the recording process for the Noise Pollution demo yesterday. Overall, I think the experience has been a good one. What we've heard thus far is pretty good, and I'm sure once the producer does his job with everything we'll have a demo we are quite proud of.

Unfortunately, we did not have enough time on Sunday to also get pictures done, so we've delayed that til Thursday after rehearsal. The clock is ticking! State Fair's application deadline is January 31st. I'm going to have to send them an incomplete package since we won't have everything finalized in time to get things to them by 1/31. We hope to have a rough mix of 2 tracks by mid-week that I'll dump on a CD and ship to the State Fair people...and Summerfest's deadline is March 1st, that's creeping up on us quick, too. I'm looking forward to the finished product, should be great.

So, we were supposed to have had band practice last night, but we had to cancel on account of lousy weather. Now at my home where we practice, we had less than a dusting of snow all day yesterday. But where the other guys are coming from, the snow was considerable, and driving conditions became rotten at best, so we called off rehearsal. Oh well. We'll be good to go for the last day of demo recording this weekend when we wrap up the backup vocal tracks.

After recording this Sunday it's time to take pictures. We're thinking of maybe going to Flashbacks Bar to have the pictures taken. Just need somewhere with some atmosphere. Guess I'll have to let you know what we decided on Monday!

Picture time

We are trying to figure out where we can go on a Sunday afternoon in Southern Wisconsin to do a photo shoot. Metallica had done a poster around the ...And Justice For All album that was shot in a gymnasium, with the 4 members of the band sitting on the bleachers. I always thought that was a good poster...scenery had some depth to it, the guys were in their trademark all black attire. All in all, it was my favorite Metallica poster. So I thought, maybe we could do a picture like that? Now all we need is a high school gymnasium. Good luck there.

Chris (lead guitar) suggested we take the pictures at a bar, with all of us seated at the bar, and the shot from the bartender's point of view. Interesting, but not sure we want to have our promo pictures shot in a bar. On a stage is cool, but sitting at a bar? I dunno bout that one.

Vic (drums) suggested we all get arrested and have our pics taken at the county lockup. I don't think so, Vic. Guess we'll figure something out, and when we do, I'll try to post a picture here.

Welcome to the Noise Pollution blog.

Noise Pollution is 2/3 of the way through recording our demo. So far, the guy that's producing this has done a great job. We are a cover band, performing songs primarily from the hair metal genre of the 80s, but we touch on the early 90s and some of the music of the hard rock 70s era. Our demo isn't going to be for sale, or even for general giveaways. We're using it to hopefully land ourselves an agent and eventually some bigger gigs in and around the area. We'd love to do some outdoor parties and festivals this summer, but without representation, it's awful tough to get in the door.

Songs on our demo are Panama by Van Halen, Dirty Deeds by AC/DC, Living After Midnight by Judas Priest, Lay It Down by Ratt, Talk Dirty to Me by Poison, and We're Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister. We finish recording backup vocals this coming weekend, and then it's just a matter of time before the producer gets the finished product back to us.

Noise Pollution is also getting ready for our next big show, February 19th at Ruckers Athletic Pub in Big Bend, WI. It's a big venue, so we're hoping for a big turnout. We will be promoting the hell outta this show to our email fan club and via fliers and so forth. I'm sure we'll be discussing this show more and more as the date approaches.
